Detectives Conduct Death Investigation After Electrocution in Seminole (25-097)

SEMINOLE – Detectives assigned to the Robbery & Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation in Seminole after three men were electrocuted at a work site.

On August 12, 2025, at approximately 1:53 p.m., deputies responded to 8675 Park Boulevard in Seminole for a report of a man who was electrocuted. When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered three men who were apparently electrocuted, and the surrounding grassy area was on fire.

Throughout the investigation, detectives learned that the crew works for Primoris and was subcontracted by Duke Energy. They were tasked with placing a new pole in the ground. Detectives say 30-year-old Justin Bryan was on the ground, assisting with placing the pole, along with two other men: 27-year-old Jefferey Busch and 31-year-old Matthew Waldrop. The boom operator, Bryan, Busch, and Waldrop were struggling to get the pole placed properly. As the boom operator was closing the claw to get a hold of the pole, one side of the claw struck the pole, causing it to hit the power line.  Detectives say that a witness saw an explosion, and the ground was set on fire.

Busch and Waldrop were transported to the hospital with severe burns, and Bryan was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin was notified. This incident appears accidental, and nothing appears suspicious.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was notified. The investigation continues.
