Man Arrested in Unincorporated Clearwater for Second Degree Murder (26-012)

CLEARWATER – Detectives assigned to the Robbery & Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in unincorporated Clearwater.


On January 29, 2026, at approximately 2:58 p.m., deputies responded to the area of 29081 US Highway 19 North in unincorporated Clearwater after a 911 caller reported that the suspect called him and stated that he killed his mother. When deputies arrived on scene, they located the victim, 65-year-old Yolanda Sanchez, in a bedroom with multiple stab wounds. Yolanda was pronounced deceased at the scene.


Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives learned that a verbal altercation took place between Yolanda and her son, 24-year-old Daniel Sanchez. The verbal altercation turned physical and Daniel admitted to stabbing his mother multiple times until she was dead.


Daniel was taken into custody and charged with Murder in the Second Degree. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.


Next of kin has been notified.


The investigation continues.
