PINELLAS COUNTY – Last week, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Unit 900 competed in the 2025 Florida Association of Police Explorers State Competition.
Competing against 34 agencies from across Florida with over 370 total attendees, our cadets achieved exceptional results across multiple categories. Our cadets earned the top honor, proving their dedication and skill among the best young law enforcement talent in Florida.
Scenario-Based Events:
• 1st Place – Overall Conference Champion
• 1st Place - Active Shooter Scenario
• 1st Place - In-Progress Call Scenario
• 5th Place - Search & Arrest Scenario
• 5th Place - Crime Scene Scenario
Firearms Competition Results:
• 1st Place - 9mm Pistol Team - Cadet Major Michael Lopez, Cadet Captain Julian Frumosu, Cadet Lieutenant Zach Cabral, Cadet Sergeant James Mercier
Individual Achievements:
• 1st Place - Explorer Steel Target Competition – Cadet Sergeant James Mercier
