Detectives Investigate Inmate Death; Death Does Not Appear Suspicious In Nature (25-147)
PINELLAS COUNTY – Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating the death of 39-year-old Louie Thomas.
Detectives say Thomas was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on October 29, 2025, by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office for Violation of Injunction, FTA Possession of Methamphetamine, Obstruction or Resisting Without Violence, FTA Criminal Mischief, and FTA Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
According to detectives, Thomas was transported to the hospital on December 10, 2025, around 1:46 p.m. for further medical evaluation. On December 11, 2025, at 8:20 a.m. Thomas was pronounced deceased.
At this point in the investigation, detectives have found no evidence that Thomas was involved in any physical altercations while incarcerated at the jail.
Thomas’s next of kin has been notified.
The investigation continues.
