Detectives Arrest St. Petersburg Man for Possession and Transmission of Child Pornography (25-054)

ST. PETERSBURG – Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit (CAC) arrested a St. Petersburg man for Possession and Transmission of Child Pornography.

 

On January 22, 2025, detectives began an investigation after receiving information that child pornography was being accessed and shared via the internet. Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified the suspect as 32-year-old Jacob Buchholz Smith. According to detectives, the images were of children between the ages of 5 and 13 years old.

 

On May 13, 2025, Smith was arrested and charged with 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, 10 counts of Transmission of Child Pornography and 1 count of Resisting an Officer Without Violence (Obstruction). He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

 

The investigation continues.
