Detectives Investigate Apparent Murder-Suicide in Largo (26-062)

LARGO – Detectives assigned to the Robbery & Homicide Unit are investigating a murder-suicide in Largo.

On July 9, 2026, at approximately 10:18 p.m., deputies responded to 12674 132nd Avenue North for a report of a shooting. When deputies arrived on scene, they located 27-year-old Parth Patel, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and 55-year-old Hitesh Patel in critical condition from a gunshot wound. Hitesh was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Hitesh and Parth are father and son. Parth was visiting the area from Ohio and was experiencing a noticeable decline in his mental health.

According to detectives, Hitesh made a comment to Parth which resulted in him shooting Hitesh before taking his own life.

Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
