Pinellas Law Enforcement Agencies to Participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics (26-035)
PINELLAS COUNTY – Tomorrow, April 16, 2026, Pinellas County law enforcement agencies will run the Torch for Special Olympics through the county.
The mission of the Law Enforcement Torch Run is to raise awareness and funds for the Special Olympics movement. The Special Olympics Torch will be passed to various Pinellas law enforcement agencies along the way as runners carry the torch from Philippe Park in Safety Harbor to Paul B. Stephens Exceptional School, where they will be greeted with a reception by students.
The Torch Run route and departure times are listed below. The media is encouraged to attend and meet runners at any of the staging locations.
If the event is canceled due to inclement/dangerous weather, no rain day is scheduled.
During the run, traffic may be affected briefly while law enforcement blocks roadways and stops traffic at various intersections.
During the event, expect intermittent delays on Philippe Parkway, Main Street in Safety Harbor, the intersection of Sunset Point Road and McMullen Booth Road, and Sunset Point Road to County Road 193.
The Torch Run route is listed below.
Start: 10:45 a.m.
- Philippe Park Shelter 5
Route: (4 miles) Philippe Parkway south to Main
Street, west on Main Street to McMullen Booth Road, then continue west on Sunset
Point Road to County Road 193, south on County Road 193 to Paul B. Stephens
School for the finish.
Finish: Around 11:20 – 11:45 a.m., Torch Arrival/student reception at Paul B. Stephens School.
